Being Sloane Jacobs

Being Sloane Jacobs - Lauren Morrill *3.5*

Thank you to Random Buzzers and Delacorte Press for sending me an ARC of this book and allowing me to read it early.

This is definitely a "funny, charming, and heartwarming" read!
I really enjoyed the two main characters! Even though Sloane Emily and Sloane Devon have the same name and even look similar, they read as two unique and different characters. I never got confused about whose perspective I was reading, and I had a clear picture in my head of each girl. I was afraid it would be a little confusing with the girls switching places, but I think the author did a good job of keeping them separate.
I really love the plot and idea that the book is based on. Each girl's back story is filled with family drama, and it was fun reading about them over coming their personal struggles. I liked how they re-discovered themselves while pretending to be someone else, it made for interesting character development. The little romances going on are super cute, and the antics between the main characters and their competitors are hilarious.
This is a perfectly wrapped little contemporary novel with minimal conflict. There is the anxiousness of the two girls keeping their switch a secret and then it gets a little tense when they are on the ice. Therefore, if you're looking for a calm-ish contemporary read then this is the book for you!
I don't really have anything negative to say about this novel. I feel it is a fun idea, that is executed well. However, it just didn't leave a huge impact on me. It is almost like brain-candy, I just ate it up and afterwards had a smile on my face and felt satisfied.
I do recommend this book for contemporary lovers, and I am interested to read Lauren Morrill's other novel.
